Itinerary
DAY 1
· Christchurch - We begin this snow-filled adventure by leaving the Garden City and heading to Mt Hutt for the day, making the most of the day ahead. On the way, your driver will point out all the highlights of Christchurch, and you pass through the beautiful countryside as we wind our way to Mt Hutt.
· Mt Hutt – We arrive at Mt Hutt - This is a true alpine experience with magical views, wide-open terrain, and huge snowfalls you haven’t skied in New Zealand until you have skied Mt Hutt, plus it is the perfect experience for beginners and seasoned skiers.
· Wanaka – After an awesome time on the slopes, we leave Mt Hutt and head down to Wanaka where we will spend the night. Wanaka is known for its après-ski life, full of restaurants, and bars, where you can eat, drink and, socialize after a great day on the slopes.
DAY 2
· Wanaka – We start the day with breakfast, getting ourselves ready for another exciting day visiting the ski fields.
· Treble Cone – Our playfield on the slopes today is Treble Cone. This mountain lies within the heart of the majestic Southern Alps, which protects it from the bitterly cold southerly winds, and there are stunning views across Wanaka. Plus, it is the largest ski area in the South Island. There is plenty of varied terrains, and a purpose-built learner area, perfect for those who are just new to the skiing lifestyle. Treble Cone also has its home basin chairlift, which offers the highest vertical drop in the South Island.
DAY 3
· Wanaka – We grab breakfast before we head to the mountain.
· Cardrona – Cardrona is one of the top mountains in New Zealand with the most reliable snow conditions, and its high elevation and southerly aspect mean dry natural snow is plentiful. With very diverse facilities and wide-open trails spread over three basins, skiers of all abilities are catered for. Cardrona is also home to McDougall's Chondola - New Zealand's first cabin-style lift on a ski area.
· Queenstown – We head to Queenstown for the night – the adventure capital of New Zealand. Only an hour away from Wanaka, where there is so much more adventure to be had. Restaurants and bars are aplenty there, where you can reflect on the last two days, and your time on the slopes.
DAY 4
· Queenstown - We begin the day with breakfast, before heading to Queenstown’s local mountain.
· Coronet Peak – We head off to the oldest and most developed ski field in the South Island. Everything that is designed here at Coronet Peak is designed to maximize the most of your skiing, and just like the previous fields we have visited there are dedicated slopes for beginners and plenty of choices for experienced skiers. As the home of the night sky, Coronet Peak offers night skiing on certain days, so you can view the stunning sunset before skiing your way down the mountain. This certainly is a bucket list activity you will want to tick off your list.
DAY 5
· Queenstown - We have left this day open as a breather to explore Queenstown, where you can explore one of the many beautiful walking trails, or adventure activities. Visit the local shops, and restaurants, and even try the world-famous Fergburger! Or why not hit the slopes if you can’t bear to be away from the snow!
DAY 6
· Queenstown - We begin the day with breakfast, before heading to Queenstown’s local mountain.
· The Remarkables – You will find your freedom and experience the big mountain terrain at the Remarkables - Queenstown’s big mountain. The Remarks (known as to locals) is located high up in the rugged ranges, with north-facing sun-soaked slopes, untouched snow, and some pretty spectacular views. With plenty of space for beginners, a dedicated freestyle area, and massive terrain parks there is something for everyone here. Plus, the Southern Hemisphere's only Burton Stash, a signature terrain park packed with natural features is located here.
DAY 7
· Christchurch – Unfortunately it’s our seventh and final day, we fuel up with breakfast before we start the trip north back to Christchurch to end what has been a wonderful four-day experience of some of the best ski fields the South Island has to offer.
