This all-inclusive package offers an unforgettable way to experience the heart of Fiordland, with expert guides, small group hiking experiences, and the comfort of hotel lakeside accommodation.

Choose how you'd like to begin your Fiordland hiking adventure with two Kepler Track options to suit your style. For a relaxed start, opt for the Kepler Jetboat & Hike, combining a thrilling jet boat ride on the Waiau River with a gentle 6 km guided walk through lakeside forest and wetland landscapes – ideal for those seeking a more accessible experience. Alternatively, for a more adventurous and demanding start, choose the Kepler Heli Hike, which includes a scenic helicopter flight to Luxmore Hut and a hike across the stunning alpine section of the track with panoramic views over Lake Te Anau. With a minimum 800-metre descent and an 8 km hike, this is a more challenging option suited to those with a higher level of fitness and a taste for adventure.

Day 1. From 2.00 pm Check into Te Anau's Distinction Hotel and Villas, Lakeview room

The Distinction Te Anau Hotel will be your home base for the duration of the package.  Enjoy being in the heart of our town with all the services, and eateries close by.  

This package combines your Fiordland Great Walks 3 day package with a 4 night stay in a four star Lakeview Hotel Room at Distinction Te Anau Hotel, conveniently located near the heart of the Te Anau township. You will also receive daily full cooked breakfast(s) in the hotel’s restaurant, prior to your Trips & Tramps morning pickup, leaving you fueled for your day of adventure ahead. 

Free unlimited WiFi & complimentary off-street parking is also included during your stay.

Day 2. Pick up 8.45 am for Pre-trip Briefing + Kepler Track Guided Walk

Your Great Walks Package begins with a morning briefing where your guide will outline the three-day itinerary and ensure everyone is well prepared. It’s a great chance to meet fellow walkers, ask questions, and organise any extra gear you may need—such as rain jackets or walking poles, available on loan at no extra cost.

On conclusion of the briefing we will make our way to the Kepler Track to begin the first walk.

Kepler Heli Hike Option

Experience an exciting heli-hike on the Kepler Track, perfect for those seeking a more challenging adventure. Your journey begins with a short spectacular helicopter flight, soaring over hidden lakes before landing at Luxmore Hut on the Kepler Track.

From here, the hike starts in the alpine area, offering expansive views before descending through majestic beech forest. As you descend, witness the dramatic changes in the landscape as altitude and weather conditions shift, creating a stunning variety of flora. The track leads you towards Lake Te Anau, meandering through native ferns before finishing at the sandy beach of Brod Bay, where a water taxi will transport you back to Te Anau Township.

This more demanding option provides a rewarding mix of alpine and forest terrain, ideal for experienced hikers wanting to experience the rugged beauty of Fiordland.

Kepler Jetboat & Hike Option

Start your adventure with a scenic and relaxed day exploring the Kepler Track by land and water. Begin with an exhilarating jetboat ride along the Waiau River—famously featured in The Lord of the Rings—followed by a peaceful cruise across Lake Manapouri, framed by ancient beech forest and sandy coves.

From there, enjoy a 3-hour guided walk on a flat, well-maintained section of the Kepler Track, featuring native forest, wetlands, lake views, and swing bridges. This easier option is perfect for guests looking for a less physically demanding introduction to Fiordland. 

Inclusions - Fully guided day walk from Te Anau, jet boat ride, accommodation pick up and drop off, lunch.

Day 3. 6.30 am Pick up Milford Track 1/2 Day Guided Walk

Enjoy a spectacular day in Fiordland with a guided walk to Giant Gate Waterfall on the world-famous Milford Track. Departing from Te Anau, travel along the scenic Milford Road with your guide before beginning the experience with a short boat ride from Milford Sound to Sandfly Point.

From there, follow an undulating track alongside the cascading Arthur River through lush rainforest to the impressive Giant Gate Waterfall. A swing bridge spanning the river offers the perfect photo stop, with ancient trees, vibrant mosses and ferns, and native birdlife surrounding you at every step.

After your walk, complete the Milford Sound experience with a 2-hour scenic cruise with Mitre Peak Cruises. Aboard the small boat, you'll enjoy a more personal and immersive experience with unobstructed views. Cruise beneath towering cliffs, past thundering waterfalls, hanging valleys, glaciers, and lush rainforest.

Inclusions – fully guided ½ day walk, return water taxi Milford Deep Water basin to Sandfly Point. Afternoon Scenic Boat Cruise, lunch. Plus return transport from Te Anau.

Day 4. 8.30 am Pick up Routeburn Track Guided Walk

Embark on a guided walk to Key Summit on the famous Routeburn Track, starting with transport from Te Anau along the scenic Milford Road to The Divide, with stops for short walks and photo opportunities.

Ascend through temperate rainforest to an alpine herb field, where the summit offers panoramic views of mountains, alpine lakes, and glacial valleys. Your Trips & Tramps guide will share insights into the region's flora, fauna, and geology, making this small-group experience an unforgettable way to explore Fiordland’s natural beauty.

Day 5. Check out of Distinction Te Anau
