Country, ride deep into the heart of the Southern Alps NZ/ Tiritiri-o-te-moana, Te on
horseback.

Experience the cultural history: 

Farming: Explore this privately owned, iconic Kiwi farms (ranches/stations), Glenlyon
Station

Stargazing: The Aoraki Mackenzie Dark Sky Reserve

Fishing: Lake Ōhau is well known for its brown trout and rainbow trout fishing.

Photography:
Do not forget your camera with spare batteries as this location is outstandingly beautiful.

Digital Detox: A wonderful location to immerse yourself in Papatuanuku “Mother Earth” and recharge your batteries.

Pick up is in Queenstown either airport or Hotels 

Please note: If you are thinking of doing a tiki tour and driving yourself to the trail we can make arrangements to pick you up enroute so that your car will be waiting when you finish the trail.

Day 1 _2
hours riding:

We will arrive at Glen Lyon
Station shearers quarters:

Enjoy a light lunch, change into riding gear, meet our adventure
horses and head out to explore the station.

This is an introductory
ride to get to know your adventure horse team mate, ask any questions.

Later in the afternoon will
be issued with our blue bags, saddle bags and have time to sort out

your gear. 

Note: Angie will take the remainder of your gear to the end of the trail for you

A hearty farm cooked dinner
and we enjoy time getting to know the other riders and packing.

Accommodation this evening
is the shearer’s quarters, hot showers, and electricity are available.

There is a chance to see
first-hand behind the scenes of this iconic working station.

Day 2 _ Riding day 2 - 5
hours riding
 

We leave Glen Lyon station
following the beautiful braided river we head into the valley as 100's of
musterers’ have done before us.

As we ride the mountains appear to move closer the deeper we head into the
valley.

Our evening’s accommodation
is a 12 bunk Musterer’s Hut with long drop toilet; we also carry tents for
those who wish to have more privacy.

We are located in the heart
of the mountains beside a beautiful braided river.

The star laden skies of
this light conservation area are awe inspiring.

Enjoy the peace of a
digital detox. Home cooked farm fresh

food.

Day 3 - Riding Day 3 - 3

.

Today we are heading away
from civilisation, deep into the valley with mountains flanking our trail. Your
camera will be exhausted today.

Our destination for this
evening is a 6 bunk musterer’s hut in the most stunning location. Tents will be
provided as additional accommodation. This is a quaint hut in the most
incredible setting.

There is a shower available
and long drop toilet.

For those who wish we can
enjoy a lovely swim in the river.

We enjoy lunch at the hut
on our arrival we will unpack the pack horses.

We have two options on arrival at the hut.

For those who wish to enjoy
relaxing at the hut you can do so

For those who wish to
continue riding, we saddle up and head deep into the heart of the NZ southern
alps for a further 3 hours ride.

We return to the hut for
dinner and overnights accommodation.

Day 4 - Riding Day 4 – 3 hours

This morning we enjoy a
relaxing start to the day giving riders time to explore this beautiful location
while our staff loads up the pack horses.

A gentle days ride along
the south side of the Dobson river heading back to the station hut.

Relax and enjoy a hearty
Musterers' Meal cooked on

the open fire at the hut in this magnificent environment soak up the star laden
skies.

Swim in the river or sit
back read a book, spot wild deer or Tahr

Day 5 - Riding Day 5_ 5
hours riding
.

Today we are riding back to
the Glen Lyon shearers quarters.

The views are so
spectacular as we follow in the historic footsteps of shepherds that have
ridden this trail before us for over a hundred years.

We enjoy a hearty farm cook
meal together with a chance to meet and chat to the owners of the station.

The Wigley family where one
of the first to encourage tourism in the Aoraki “Mount Cook” area.

Day 6_ Riding day 6 – 6 1/2
hours riding
 

Today we have an early
start as we enjoy breakfast, pack our lunches and say goodbye to Glen Lyon
station.

We are riding beside the
magnificent Lake Ohau with the mountains reflected in the clear blue  lake.

We make our way onto
Flanagan’s pass 1225m above sea, with incredible views up the Dobson and Hopkins Valleys. From our
vantage point we stare straight over at Lake Ohau Station.

Once we reach the top of
the pass we look out over Lake Pukaki and up into the Tasman Valley

We will stop several times
for photo opportunities so that you don’t miss a moments magic.

Our
accommodation for the evening is Mackenzie Country Hotel where we enjoy soft
beds, hot showers, dinner and relaxing in the bar.

Day 7 _ 10 am you will be picked up

by our Driver Mike and returned to Queenstown by 1pm>1:30pm
