Refresher Course / Inactive Diver

Upskill yourself with a Refresher Course 

It is easy for dive skills to get rusty and for divers to lose confidence when you have not dived for a while, so why not take the stress away by updating your skills on a Refresher Course. 

A Refresher course provides you with the opportunity to review and practice necessary scuba skills that you learned in your original Open Water Diver program under the guidance of a Dive Professional. 

Although your certification card is valid for life, the Refresher / Inactive Diver Course is often required for continuing your diving training after a long period of time away from the sport. 

Certified divers who have not been diving in over six months may wish to take the course to regain their scuba skills, although this will depend on your previous number of dives and qualification, plus the length of time out of the water.  

Your instructor will review the knowledge you learned in your Open Water Diver course and he/she will also cover any new material you should know about. You will review dive planning, dive tables, and dive execution to keep you safe during future diving activities.

Sometimes our activities may have to be rescheduled due to situations outside of our control, such as poor weather. Please note we reschedule in such situations, as described in our terms and conditions.

Please note that NZ Diving will offer alternate dates if conditions do not allow for safe travel or if minimum numbers are not met. In case of a cancellation we will reschedule the charter, we can put you on a different dive charter, you can use the amount paid as credit, transfer the credit to a different person or help with a letter for your travel insurance. Overseas participants are advised to carry travel insurance in case rescheduling is unsuitable.

For a refresher course you need to be a certified diver. All participants must be able to swim a minimum of 200m, unassisted.
