Day 1 _ 4.5 hours riding _Loving that

Lake

Today’s ride offers incredible views of Lake Ohau, as we head across Lake Ohau Station
and along the lower Maitland valley track in the Ruataniwha Conservation Park.
Cut into the heart of the mountains; look down into the Maitland stream and the
stunning beech forests that cover the Maitland Valley.

Snow-capped mountains bless us with their beauty in the spring and autumn. With rolling
tussocks curillin blue sky reflected in the Lake it is a dramatic and
breath-taking location to ride.

Then we ride home to the warmth and comfort of the beautiful Lake Ohau Quarters with
the hot tub bubbling on the deck for you to enjoy.

Afternoon tea, hot showers, read a book or a good chat with fellow riders while we cook
you a beautiful 2 course dinner with farm fresh locally sourced produce.

This location is part of/close to the Aoraki Mackenzie
International dark sky reserve.
There is little if any light pollution which
means that we can enjoy the incredible star laden skies. The stillness of the
mountains and the intensity of the stars is such a beautiful relaxing
environment to enjoy.

Day 2 _5 1/2 >6 hours riding_ Lets ride the
Lake to the Lodge

After a full farm breakfast, lunches packed we saddle up and ride down the lake side.
Don’t forget your camera today as the colours of the lake change so rapidly.

We are riding to the Lake Ohau Lodge enjoying a wee drink with our lunch before
heading back to the quarters.

Enjoy afternoon tea on the deck overlooking Lake Ohau or relaxing in the hot tub
soaking up the beauty of this location or a good book snuggled by the warmth of
the open fire.

Tonight, we feast on high country salmon sourced locally; it is wonderful to embrace the
high country life with recipes and ingredients from this magnificent location.

Day 3_5 > 6 hours riding_ Exploring the
picturesque Huxley Valley

After enjoying our breakfast together, tucker boxes packed into our saddle bags we
are transported to meet our adventure horses as our day begins.

The Huxley River flows into the larger Hopkins River and river flats, we are
exploring this intimate bush clad valley with tracks that thread through beech
forests and attractive huts.

We find a beautiful location to enjoy lunch before heading back to our
accommodation for the evening.

Afternoon tea & nibbles are provided; relax whilst we cook your final dinner for the
evening in this magnificent mountain soaked location.

We enjoy a two course dinner together, which is generally a Kiwi farm style
