Are you interested in experiencing the enchantment of the sea using only your fin kicks and a single breath? Then let SSI introduce you to the captivating wonder that only comes with FREEDIVING. You can gain an internationally recognised certification from SSI as you learn to Freedive in the safe confinements of a swimming pool.

Once you have your SSI Basic Freediving certification, New Zealand Diving will take you out on a spearfishing charter for you to practice your newly learned skills. Spearfishing is one of the fastest growing watersports in New Zealand and the Hauraki Gulf has some of the best spearfishing destinations to offer those keen on hunting.

Spearfishing offers a totally different experience in comparison to scuba diving, without the aid of artificial breathing apparatus and the hiss of regulators scaring all the fish away, the opportunity to encounter fish life up close and personal increases dramatically. You will get much closer and see a bigger variety of fish; you are now no longer spectators but rather participants, another predator in the food chain of life.

The Freediving/Spearfishing combo takes place over approx 2 days on a weekend.

HIRE

A limited amount of spearfishing equipment is available for hire at an additional cost. Please contact us for further information.
