- Código de produto: 4-CO
Based in Hahei, on the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula, join expert landscape photographers Ken Wright & Blair Quax on this 4-day long exposure photography workshop that showcases the best of the Coromandel’s coastal scenery.
Long exposure photography requires the use of Neutral Density (ND) filters to enable longer shutter speeds, which can capture the beautiful and often surprising effects of movement in the water and clouds. Capturing images like this requires good technique, by joining this workshop you’ll be guided through advanced use of ND filters along with HDR techniques, and in the process, learn how to take compelling coastal photographs.
Capture to Print Masterclass Workshop: Our Long Exposure Masterclass offers a mixture of both tuition and post-processing sessions to help you create some stunning photographs of the Coromandel’s beautiful coastal scenery. The workshop concludes with printing two of your best images as 13x19” fine art prints.

The workshop will start at midday at Hahei on the Coromandel Peninsula, with the option for pickup and transport from Tauranga. After arriving in the hotel we use the conference room we will run through our introductory programme about the finer points of capturing a long exposure photograph and advanced settings for HDR photography. Later in the afternoon will see us heading out for our first long exposure shot on the area's stunning coastline, and Coromandel sunset.
The day starts with a sunrise shoot over Cathedral Cove, famous as the location of Cair Paravel in the Narnia films, ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’, and ‘Prince Caspian.’ After photographing the cove and its impressive arch. We spend the rest of the day photographing the beaches, forests and waterfalls of the Coromandel Peninsula. Sunset will be spent at one of the Coromandel’s bays. We will be utilising the long exposure and HDR techniques that we have learned to take some unique photographs.
We will spend this morning in the hotel conference room to offer some group critique of the photographs from the last few days and an in-depth post-production session covering the processing of long exposure, black and white images and merging HDR shots. This afternoon we shall head out on a boat trip from Hahei to capture an alternative view of the coastline. After our boat trip, we will explore one of the many beautiful bays to take advantage of these swathes of colour and further practice some long exposure techniques and finish up with a sunset.
Another early morning sunrise allows you to hone your field technique and capture some more of the area's stunning beaches. After breakfast, we will then use the hotel's conference room to help you process your two best images from the workshop and produce a finished 13x19” fine art prints to take home. In the afternoon, we drive back to Tauranga to meet connecting flights to the main centres.
